2013 was a big year for the House of Fraser Charity Event, celebrating ten years since the introduction of the Cheryl Duncan Trophy. Preparations started earlier than usual and due to the success of 2012, the decision was made to keep the event at The Grove in Hertfordshire. The day kicked off with registration and breakfast at The Stables Restaurant where players could also pick up their ultimate goody bag which included their choice of six Adidas golf shoes, a Taylor Made golf glove, Taylor Made Superdeep golf balls, Taylor Made caps, golf socks, a Taylor Made valuable bag, a golf towel and various vouchers for on course competitions. With a 10am shot gun start players took to the course which was packed with treats and entertainment including a special Taylor Made R1 hole on the 9th tee, where players could play their shot using a customised R1 Driver with the Longest Drive winning a R1 Driver signed by US Open Champion Justin Rose.
This year we also introduced the vPar system so players could electronically record their scores and keep an eye on their rivals! Regular competitions were held around the course including Beat the Pro, Nearest the Pin, Longest Drive and of course the Hole in One with the opportunity to win a fantastic Mini Cooper SD Coupe. Prizes for Beat the Pro and other competitions included a sleeve of sponsored Taylor Made golf balls, a Taylor Made R1 Driver and a Taylor Made Spider Putter. After the golf, guests enjoyed some down time in the bar area whilst being given the opportunity to try out the 11th hole at Turnberry Golf Course in a top of the range Golf Simulator before prize giving in the Stables Bar.After prize giving guests made their way down to the Amber Suite where our evening guests joined them for a champagne reception before dinner. With over 400 guests in the room, the evening was hosted by the fantastic duo, journalist Chris Hollins and Sky Sports Commentator Di Dougherty who not only entertained the crowd with their banter but also compered the evening perfectly.
Throughout the evening guests were kept amused by the award winning comic duo Abandoman who received a standing ovation after free styling songs at lightning speed based on audience suggestions and Josh Daniels, who wowed the crowd with his ability to combine comedy whilst playing the ucalaly!The main auction on the night was conducted by comedian and expert auctioneer Russ Williams with lots including a five night stay at the stunning 5* Esencia Resort in Mexico, an exclusive dinner party for eight people with celebrity chef Aldo Zilli and his two sous chefs preparing and cooking a luxury three course meal in your own home and a signed Rolling Stones guitar…to name but a few!The evening was rounded off with Payback, a ten piece funk, soul and disco band taking to the stage whilst the ladies kicked off their heels to have a bogie on the dance floor. The night carried on through till the early hours with most guests retiring to the bar for an after dinner drink and mingle and network with the celebrities and high profile individuals in the world of retail.This year the event raised a record breaking £235,517 which has been shared between the two worthy charities Sparks and Walk the Walk in aid of Breast Cancer.D&G Partners assisted House of Fraser in being responsible for the recruitment of;
