ASOS Foundation Charity Golf day and Gala Dinner

  • DATE -  07/09/2017

  • CHARITY -  ASOS Foundation

  • LOCATION -  The Grove, Hertfordshire

Another outstanding day was held at The Grove on Thursday 7th September for the 3rd annual ASOS Foundation Charity Golf Day and Gala Dinner.  With a bright start to the morning everyone was raring to go. As the golfers arrived to register along with the traditional golfer’s breakfast of coffee and a bacon roll they were also each given an M2 driver from Taylor Made – now that’s what you call a ‘goody’ bag!

With 28 teams playing, the golfers needed a prompt start, throughout the course there were various competitions increasing the already competitive edge to the day!   Alongside the competing golfers were treated to a variety of refreshments and goodies; Gaucho’s made an appearance on hole 1 offering freshly cooked Argentinian steak; fruit-laden Pimm’s on hole 4; and a luxurious Malbec and Chocolate serving on hole 18 –

Once the competition was over it was back to the Stables Courtyard for a well-deserved drink and await the anticipated results. With only one point in it –  the final scores were a very close call between the top three teams.

However, huge congratulations were due to this year’s winners – Tex International.

Following a successful day on the golf course it was time to get ready for the evening gala dinner, and welcome an additional 270 guests.  The weather continued to be kind, and so the beautiful Walled Gardens provided the backdrop for pre-dinner fizz before moving on to the Amber Suite for further drinks, dining, entertainment and the all-important fundraising.

Famed for having gate-crashed London Fashion week the host for the evening, Gabby Best, provided her alter-ego Marijana to handle this rowdy and raucous crowd. She then recruited both Nick Roberts and Nick Beighton to assist her with an ASOS-centric Heads & Tails to kick off the fund-raising for the evening.

Charlie Ross reigned for a second year as the Auctioneer with the magic touch, utilising his superb skills to raise over £60,000 across seven unique and luxurious Lots.

It was time to then fill the dance floor with ASOS’s very own band Zed’s Dead providing a dynamic performance, followed by Australian DJ Tom Loud AKA Hot Dub Time Machine – without fail the ASOS guests packed the dance floor as they ‘danced-through-the-decades’.

With confetti cannons at the ready, our final fundraising amount of a massive £216,000 for the ASOS Foundation was announced, and guests were showered in ASOS metallic purple confetti and the real celebrations began!

“With the ASOS Foundation in full swing, we wanted activities would highlight the achievements and vision of the Foundation. We chose to work with D&G Group for all things consultation to ticket sales through to production meaning we only need to apply the ASOS DNA”

- Nick Beighton, CEO, ASOS

Iceland’s 25th Annual Charity Golf Day

  • CHARITY -  Alzheimer's Research, UCL Dementia Research & Iceland Charitable Foundation

  • LOCATION -  Celtic Manor, Newport

Celebrating Iceland’s 25th Annual Charity Golf Classic, things were shaken up a little this year by moving venue to the prestigious Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales. We were delighted that our superb sales team garnered immense support from Iceland’s suppliers and partners selling the most golfing teams ever in 25 years!

The world-famous Twenty Ten and Roman Road courses welcomed 64 golf teams across both courses making it the biggest golf day yet to take place at Celtic Manor, all we needed now was a little sun.  In homage to the event’s twenty fifth year golfers were asked to purchase a goody bag for £25 which had an actual value of a staggering £350 and included a M2 driver from Taylor Made!

Following the briefing, the sunshine appeared, and the Celtic Manor staff led the players out to a shotgun start, getting the competition started in great style.  Throughout the course players were treated to a range of delicious food and drink; Gregg’s offered tasty goodies; Kezie and Birdseye offered more choices on par; and Froneri delivered fantastic ice cream for those requiring cooler options, all washed down with a chilled glass of champagne!

If your golfing skills weren’t up to scratch then you had the opportunity to indulge yourself with a range of spa and beauty treatments instead.

As the golf came to a close, winnersCoppenrath & Wiese celebrated before heading down to the Caernarfon Suite to continue the fun and festivities.

Just under 800 people were shown to their seats to witness the opening act Cirque Silver Glitz.  A mix of stunning singers and dazzling showgirls performed a classic routine complemented by incredibly talented contortion artists, ribbon dancers, and amazing acrobats who performed with incredible skill and balance on an enchanting glitter ball.

After a fabulous three course meal our guests were entertained with a set from comedian, David Baddiel, reflecting on his own personal journey with Dementia. Dave Sharp the Speed Painter created an amazing art piece of Rory Mcllroy and Tiger Woods whilst Willie Miller, resident Iceland auctioneer, did a fantastic job of the main auction – fetching a whopping £125,000.00!

But the best was yet to come – the surprise act of the night was All Saint’s.  As the reunited former girl band took to the stage to belt out their well-known hits, revellers took to the dance floor and partied well into the night.

With the total fundraising amount hitting over £706,000 this is an event that was absolutely standout!

We work closely with leading children’s hospice charity Shooting Star Chase. D&G Group CEO David Nash has been a supporter of Shooting Star Chase for many years now.

“Since David first started supporting us in 2007 for his benefit year he has raised nearly £300,000. He has done all sorts of things to support us such as running the London Marathon in a Pink Panther costume, running through mud and over obstacles in the Nuts Challenge and since setting up D&G Partners with his brother Glen, they put on this fantastic Test Match Ball every year”. Shooting Star Chase

“Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, we are here to make every moment count. We support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

Our bespoke support is free of charge to families and available 365 days a year. Our care service includes short breaks at our two hospices (Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher’s in Guildford), Hospice at Home, day care, symptom management, end-of-life care, bereavement care and a comprehensive range of therapies and support groups for the whole family.

It costs £10 million a year just to maintain our current level of care. Around 10% of that income comes from government funding, so we rely on their supporter’s generosity to keep the service running. What’s more, we know are many more families desperate for our vital support, so it’s crucial we raise more funds to provide more care.”
